$150 for a cup and $1,400 for chopsticks: There's a wild market for SpaceX IPO merch online By Samuel O'Brient Would you pay $150 for a souvenir cup? No? How about $200 for a cup and a baseball cap? Still no? What if it has the SpaceX logo on it? There's a colorful and weird market online for such swag, as eBay sellers look to cash in on the hype in the wake of the historic SpaceX IPO last month. One seller is offering a set of two glow sticks they say were handed out at the IPO launch party for $150. For $228, you can buy a framed S-1. If you really want to splurge, why not pay $5,000 for an "Elon Musk Rookie Card"? While it doesn't appear to be explicitly linked to the IPO, the listing banner reads: "SpaceX IPO Elon Musk! ROOKIE CARD!" The IPO themed merch is the latest wave of pricey SpaceX gear on the site. There's also this $1,400 set of chopsticks, if you have the means. "The SpaceX Starship Mechazilla Chopsticks Set COA is a unique and special collectible item," the seller writes. "These chopsticks are milled from the historic chopsticks used to catch the super heavy booster during flight 5 and flight after. This item captures the excitement and progress being made in the realm of space travel, making it a valuable and sought-after piece for collectors and enthusiasts alike." When SpaceX stock began trading on the Nasdaq in June, its historic debut brought throngs of Musk fans to New York City's Times Square, some of whom dressed in space suits to mark the occasion. Others sported t-shirts with the "Occupy Mars" made famous by SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. That t-shirt can be purchased for as little as $15 at Walmart, and compared to other SpaceX collectibles, that's basically free. A few other standout items currently listed on eBay include: A eBay listing for a group of six SpaceX company-branded instant coffee packs. eBay An unopened pack of five SpaceX branded pens that feature the names of company rockets: $85 A pack of 6 employee-exclusive SpaceX instant coffee packs: $100 starting price, $250 "buy it now" price Brand new authentic black pyramex SpaceX-issued hard hat: $340 Falcon 9 Carbon Fiber "gently used" SpaceX skateboard: $1,499.00 A search through eBay shows that demand for high-priced SpaceX collectables is indeed there. A collectible champagne plastic cup, described as being from a "SpaceX Nasdaq Listed Launch Party" recently sold for $27 dollars while a separately listed one sold for $56. Someone has already paid $28 for the same SpaceX stock-branded souvenir cup currently listed for $150 and another has spent $207 on a brand new SpaceX starship kitchen torch. "Who needs weak matches when you've got the power of Starship in your hands," the listing reads.
