Device Monitoring

SNMP monitoring

Poll UPS units, PDUs, switches and environmental sensors over SNMP, receive their traps, and store every reading in one monitoring database.

Conceptual architecture · illustrative, no real data

What we build

UPS units, PDUs, switches and environmental sensors all speak SNMP, yet their data sits in separate vendor tools or isn't collected at all.

  • Regular polling of the values that matter for each device
  • Reception and decoding of SNMP traps
  • Normalised readings stored in a single database
  • Limits that turn values into alerts

How it works

A typical data flow, from your equipment to the place the data is used.

Getting started

What we need from you

  • Device list with models and IP addresses
  • SNMP version and read credentials (community string or SNMPv3 user)
  • Network access from the collector to the devices

What you receive

  • A running SNMP collector on your network
  • Stored readings with full history
  • A list of every monitored device and value

Questions

No. Monitoring uses read access only and leaves device configuration untouched.

v1, v2c and v3. Where your equipment supports SNMPv3, we use it with authentication and encryption.

Yes. MIB files describe which values a device exposes, so we read the ones that matter instead of everything.

On a server or small machine inside your network, close to the devices. Only the data you approve is forwarded beyond it.
